Dark Vengeance is a good starter kit. While the models aren't too customizable as they're snapfit, they're gorgeous and detailed. It comes with a very sought after small rulebook with all the rules but the fluff cut out to make it more portable, as well as an "intro" book to playing the game with a series of missions using the Dark Angels and Crimson Slaughter models you get in the kit.
