The State Government's Go Fishing Victoria plan has funded and provided recreational fishing licence fees which will see the site get over 400 fish.

Ferntree Gully Quarry is a great fishing location where you can target several freshwater fish species. This includes trout, redfin, carp, golden perch and Murray cod. We would highly recommend that you read our detailed guide on how to catch trout. This lake is regularly stocked with rainbow trout prior to each school holiday break.

We enjoyed our visit. It's a cool experience. For GPS, make sure to Google Map to "The Quarry at Carrigan Farms". We came on a Thurs evening (the 3:45 start time) and got there just before 5:00 PM and the check-in line was short, but it seemed to take quite awhile to get waited on with only one person checking people into the place (we had a reservation).

Since Ferntree Gully Quarry is close to me, I visit it regularly, and it is always beautiful. The cliff face left over from the quarry is striking, and the bottom of the quarry has been transformed into a lake. The park has been slowly transformed over the years, and earlier this year they opened access to the lake area itself.

/ quarry reserve, ferntree gully Now this was an amazing surprise! Quarry Reserve in Ferntree Gully is quite simply.. beautiful. Tucked off behind the train lines and not visible from any of the main roads (which is probably why it has taken Mamma this long to find it), is this stunning outlook .
